Für die Erstellung eines möglichst vollständigen Werkverzeichnisses und der kunsthistorischen Aufarbeitung des in Vergessenheit geratenen und unerforschten Tiroler Künstlers Rudolf Kreuzer wird nach Werken und biografischen Hinweisen gesucht.

Vita:
Rudolf Kreuzer (1928-2010) lebte und arbeitete in Innsbruck/Tirol. Er absolvierte eine Lehre in der Tiroler Glasmalerei und Mosaikanstalt und studierte in Salzburg am Mozarteum und in Wien Bühnenbildnerei bei Emil Pirchan.
1960-1968 unternahm er zahlreiche Studienreisen nach Nord- und Zentralafrika (u.a. Tunesien, Gabun, Nigeria, Tschad, Kamerun, Elfenbeinküste, Senegal). Zweimal besuchte er Albert Schweitzer für mehrere Wochen im Urwaldspital in Lambarene. Es entstanden Porträts Albert Schweitzers und afrikanische Landschaftsbilder. Nach seiner Rückkehr nach Europa wurde eine große Anzahl dieser Werke in Berlin gezeigt und verkauft. Abgesehen von einigen Katalogen aus dieser Zeit sind derzeit keine schriftlichen Nachweise bekannt.
1968-1969 folgte ein Aufenthalt in Israel, wo Rudolf Kreuzer in einem Kibbuz lebte und einen Lehrauftrag an der Kunstschule von Galiläa in Tel Chai innehatte.Nach seiner Rückkehr nach Innsbruck zog er sich völlig vom Kunstmarkt zurück und nahm eine Lehrtätigkeit auf.

International Call for lost works of Rudolf Kreuzer

We are working on a Catalogue Raisonné of the works of Rudolf Kreuzer and looking for lost works as well as additional pieces of information concerning the artist’s life.
On the site www.rudolf-kreuzer.at one will find a repertory of the already known and registered works, accompanied by additional information on the artist and references to the available literature about him.

Vita:
Rudolf Kreuzer (1928-2010), born in Tyrol, was a painter and graphic artist. He studied at the „Tiroler Glasmalerei und Mosaikanstalt“, at the Mozarteum in Salzburg and in Vienna with Emil Pirchan for theater sets.
Between 1960 and 1968 he traveled extensively in North and West Africa (Tunisia, Gabon, Nigeria, Chad, Cameroun, Senegal, Ivory Coast). He stayed twice, for several weeks, at the hospital which Albert Schweitzer had created in Lambarene (Gabon). From this long journey he brought back a large number of landscape paintings and drawings together with several portraits of Albert Schweitzer. After his return to Europe a large number of his works were exhibited in Berlin where many were sold. (No precise accounting exists besides a few old exhibits catalogs).
He then went to Israel, living in a kibbuz and teaching at the Galiläa Art School in Tel Chai. From this period he also brought back a large number of works, landscapes and portraits. Shortly after his return to Innsbruck he put an abrupt end to his artist’s life and went into teaching.

Rudolf Kreuzer (1928-2010), né au Tyrol, est un peintre et artiste graphique. Il a étudié à la „Tiroler Glasmalerei und Mosaikanstalt“, au Mozarteum de Salzbourg, et à Vienne avec Emil Pirchan pour les décors de théâtre.
Entre 1960 et 1968 il a voyagé longuement dans differents pays d’Afrique du Nord et de l’Ouest (Tunisie, Gabon, Nigéria, Tchad, Cameroun, Sénégal, Côte d’Ivoire). Il a séjourné deux fois pour de longues semaines, dans l’hôpital qu’Albert Schweitzer avait établi à Lambarene (Gabon). De cette longue période de voyages il a ramené un grand nombre d’œuvres qui furent exposées à Berlin où beaucoup furent vendues. (Aucune comptabilité précise de ces ventes n’existe sinon quelques vieux catalogues d’expositions).
Il s’est ensuite rendu en Israël, vivant dans un kibboutz et enseignant à l’école d’art Galiläa à Tel Chai. De cette période il a également ramené un nombre considérable d’œuvres: paysages et portraits. Peu de temps après son retour à Innsbruck il a brusquement mis fin à sa carrière d’artiste pour se consacrer à l’enseignement.
