Physics and Art(efact)

In (aiskju:b) physics and art enter into a special liaison that has received little scholarly attention to date. Astrophysicist Christian Spiering and historian of science Tim Otto Roth take the presentation of (aiskju:b) as an occasion to invite not only recognised experts from physics and art, but also historians of art and science as well as music and media scholars to a transdisciplinary symposium where they will expand on the significance of the physical realm in the arts and natural sciences.

The talks and panel discussions taking place on September 14 and 15 will explore the relationship between artefact (nowadays referred to as simulation) and nature, as well as the elective affinity between art and physics and their neighbouring disciplines that is revealed in the experiment. What makes this relationship so interesting is the material-corporeal dimension which links artistic and physical experiments and which artists and researchers are constantly compelled to assess.

Conference Chairs: Dr. Christian Spiering und Dr. Tim Otto Roth

The conference is free and open to the public, but registration is required. To register, please visit www.imachination.net/registration.
