I am seeking information on a Russian artist/illustrator/designer named Vsevold Nicouline. He spent most of his professional life in Italy, illustrating the 1944 edition of Pinocchio and an Italian children's edition of the Thousand and One Nights during the same period.

Ultimately, I'm trying to establish how some of his illustrations found their way onto the covers of 1950's Syrian magazines. But I would be grateful for basic biographical information and any URLs where I could find high resolution images of his work, particularly that with Middle Eastern themes.
