H-ArtHist and H-Net

Peter Knupfer

Dear H-Arthist Readers:

The editors of H-Arthist and representatives of H-Net, the list owner, have reached an agreement for H-ArtHist to discontinue operations from the H-Net server and to migrate under a new name to the listserver at Clio-online, located at Humboldt University in Berlin. This arrangement was arrived at amicably after H-Net terminated the use of listserv as its primary communications platform and migrated all of its networks to the H-Net Commons. Although we regret the departure of a network that has been with us for over 17 years, we do look forward to developing new resources in Art and Art History that the H-Net Commons makes possible. Any subscriptions you have to other H-Net networks will remain unaffected by this change, and we invite you to continue participation in our services, which remain, as always, free and accessible to the public.

Clio-online, owner of the former H-Net network H-SozKult, is probably very well-known to most of you. Clio and H-Net have drafted a new partnership agreement that has been approved by the H-Net Council and in the final stages of review at Clio. That agreement opens the way for the two organizations to share resources and information, to collaborate on new projects, and to remain committed to principles of moderation, editorial independence, and academic freedom.

The editors of H-Arthist and their new partners at Clio will provide technical information to you about the timing and implementation of the migration process, as well as any changes in posting or editorial practice. Please be alert for those important communications.

Finally, I wish to thank Steffen Haug and his colleagues past and present for their steadfast, able, and dedicated service to H-Net and to you. The volunteer labor of editors and board members is the heart and soul of H-Net, often done thanklessly in addition to other pressing obligations. We are very grateful for their work and their countless contributions to the field.

Good wishes,

Peter
