Call for Papers: HU-HA Journal
A New Academic Journal for Art History

HU-HA Journal (Haifa University - History of Art Journal) is an electronic refereed journal of art history, and will be published annually, in English and in Hebrew, by the department of Art History at the University of Haifa, Israel. HU-HA Journal invites original academic papers from researchers and experts. Submissions will undergo anonymous peer review. Together with academic papers, HU-HA Journal invites original short essays, book reviews, exhibition reviews, and interviews with artists, researchers, curators and critics.

HU-HA Journal is dedicated to the historical and theoretical study of international and local art, past and present. It endeavors to deepen our understanding of visual and material culture, and to encourage discussion in other disciplines that intersect with art research.

For the first issue we encourage writers, scholars and advanced students in art history and other fields, or who practice interdisciplinary methodologies, to contribute unpublished material in English or in Hebrew. The papers may relate to various aspects of art, curatorship and the visual culture of any historical period.

The content of submissions is open, but authors can consult the following theme list: the work of art from various perspectives (iconographic, formal, historical, social, or theoretical research); the artistic medium (painting, sculpture, sketch, print, video, installation, performance and new media); relations between art and patronage, culture and society; art and space (the exhibition room, the city, the borders of the empire, art in the global era); relations between the arts; new and old perspectives of art analysis (humanistic, scientific, gendered, de-constructionist, visual culture, etc.).
