Forms of Formalism is an interdisciplinary platform, supported by the
Bauhuas-Universität Weimar, gathering photographic works together with
written contributions around the notion of form.
What is formalism? One could assume it's about an examination through
aesthetic composition, whereas shape and structure — overall technical
features — prioritise the medium over content and context. However,
since we first started, we've been arguing and reflecting on what could
represent a meaningful compendium of images and texts in the name of
formalism.
For the second edition, released on April the 25th 2015, we're
interested in critical essays inquiring into the notion of form and
formalism, within a range of disciplines and studies concerning art,
architecture, visual culture and related fields.
Submissions (500 - 1,000 words, rtf format, english or german) together
with a short biography to formsforms-of-formalism.com within April 1,

The Forms of Formalism book series is published and distributed by LUCIA
Verlag Weimar.
