Some travel funds are available and the Dahesh Museum of Art Prize of $1000, a gift from the Mervat Zahid Cultural Foundation, will be awarded for the best paper. The prize also carries with it the opportunity for publication in Nineteenth-Century Art Worldwide.

Graduate students are invited to submit proposals for 20-minute papers on topics in the history of art and visual culture of the long nineteenth-century (1789-1914). Proposals that give evidence of new scholarship and originality of approach are especially encouraged. Send the following materials to the selection committee as a single email attachment (not multiple attachments) addressed to: pmainardigc.cuny.edu. The following documents into a single file attachment; do not send multiple files:

• brief c.v. (2-page maximum)
• cover sheet with name, school, title of paper, and name of faculty
adviser on the proposed paper as well as its relation to the doctoral
dissertation
• 2-page (500 word) abstract

To be considered, proposals must be received by Sunday, January 12, 2014. Invitations to participate will be sent out by email before February 1, 2014.
