Two Art Curator positions at Te Papa:
• MODERN ART
• HISTORICAL ART - WITH INTERNATIONAL/WORLD ART FOCUS
Te Papa has recently re-organised itself for the future and is entering a bold new phase which includes a greater emphasis on the arts. This is a busy and exciting time for the team with a significant review of the arts experience at Te Papa and major changes underway for the gallery spaces. These new Curator roles will be pivotal as they will lead Te Papa's exhibition development and delivery and showcase Te Papa's collections to a wide range of audiences across New Zealand and further afield.
You will have a post graduate qualification (ideally PhD, or MA and equivalent experience), in the relevant subject area.
A proven track record of delivering successful exhibitions, together with a deep understanding of international curatorial practices, museum ethics and principles, and strong project management skills will be critically important. The ability to convey complex ideas, in simple ways, to a wide range of audiences will be essential.
Key to success in these roles will be high levels of initiative, resilience and determination. Well-developed organisation, verbal and written communication skills and the ability to operate within an inter-disciplinary environment with a broad cross-section of colleagues will be an expectation of the role.
Applications close 5pm 28th June 2013
