FNG Research is the open-access web magazine of the Finnish National Gallery for art museum and art history professionals internationally.
Through art-historical research, new and intriguing pathways emerge in historiography, and museum exhibitions, and publications are formed. The latest issue of FNG Research features Arnika Groenewald-Schmidt’s article on Akseli Gallen-Kallela’s exhibitions in Vienna in connection with the upcoming show at the Ateneum Art Museum. Piia Oksanen writes about the themes of Dafna Maimon’s current exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma. Gill Crabbe interviews Claudia de Brün, curator of the ‘Classical Heroes’ themed exhibition at the Sinebrychoff Art Museum. Additionally, two articles previously published in our catalogue editions are now also available in this issue of FNG Research: Liisa Lindgren’s article on early Finnish female sculptors from the ‘Crossing Borders’ exhibition publication at the Ateneum, and Anna-Maria von Bonsdorff’s article 'A Modern Dance of Death’ from the ‘Gothic Modern’ exhibition publication.
