Las mujeres desarrollaron un papel fundamental en las relaciones culturales producidas entre España y América Latina a lo largo del siglo XX. Sin embargo, las conexiones y reciprocidades culturales tejidas a través del espacio transatlántico han sido estudiadas principalmente en el ámbito masculino. Más aún, el estudio de la trayectoria de artistas, intelectuales y gestoras culturales es a menudo abordado desde perspectivas nacionales y ámbitos disciplinarios cerrados.

Las Jornadas Internacionales de Estudios Transatlánticos están organizadas conjuntamente por el Museo de Pontevedra y el proyecto de I+D+i Hacedoras de cultura: conexiones e intercambios artísticos transatlánticos en el siglo XX (PID2022-142633OA-I00), financiado por el Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades, la Agencia Estatal de Investigación y los Fondos FEDER. Las jornadas ofrecerán un panorama amplio y variado de trayectorias de mujeres en las artes en España y Latinoamérica durante el siglo XX, con énfasis en disciplinas visuales y sonoras. El programa de las jornadas se articula a través de tres líneas temáticas: el espacio transatlántico como entorno de movilidad e intercambio durante el siglo XX, con especial atención a países menos estudiados; la experiencia creativa de mujeres vinculadas a Galicia; y la valoración de producciones de artesanía o prácticas artísticas en soportes no convencionales. Nos interesa además poner de relieve la noción de encuentros entre distintas disciplinas, corrientes migratorias o dinámicas de intercambio cultural.

Para la sesión «Hacedoras sobre la mar: Galicia transatlántica», a celebrarse el jueves 10 de julio de 2025, invitamos a estudiantes, investigadoras e investigadores emergentes a presentar contribuciones que visibilicen la experiencia creativa de mujeres en el entorno transatlántico gallego a lo largo del siglo XX. La sesión presentará un compendio de investigaciones en curso, con contribuciones de 10 minutos cada una. Esta convocatoria está abierta tanto a estudiantes, investigadoras o investigadores vinculados a instituciones gallegas o de otras latitudes dentro y fuera de España como a aquellas que se dediquen a proyectos científicos o creativos de manera independiente. Las propuestas pueden apuntar a una amplia gama de entornos creativos, incluyendo las artes visuales, gráficas, sonoras, o textiles, creación de artesanías y la gestión cultural desde perspectivas historiográficas, sociológicas o creativas. La participación en la sesión ofrece la posibilidad de recibir feedback por parte del grupo de investigación del proyecto Hacedoras de Cultura. Las ponencias seleccionadas podrán presentarse en español o gallego.

Women played a fundamental role in the cultural relations produced between Spain and Latin America throughout the twentieth century. However, the cultural connections and reciprocities woven through the transatlantic space have been studied mainly from the male perspective. Moreover, the study of the trajectory of artists, intellectuals and cultural agents is often approached from national perspectives and closed disciplinary fields.

The Jornadas Internacionales de Estudios Transatlánticos is organized jointly by the Museo de Pontevedra and the I+D+i project Hacedoras de cultura: conexiones e intercambios artísticos transatlánticos en el siglo XX (PID2022-142633OA-I00) funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, the Agencia Estatal de Investigación and the ERDF fund). The conference will offer a broad and varied panorama of the trajectories of women in the arts in Spain and Latin America during the 20th century, with emphasis on visual and sound disciplines. The program of the conference is articulated along three thematic lines: the transatlantic space as an environment of mobility and exchange during the 20th century, with special attention to understudied countries; the creative experience of women linked to Galicia; and the valorization of handicraft productions or artistic practices in non-conventional media. We are also interested in highlighting the notion of cross-disciplinary encounters, migration currents and cultural exchange dynamics.

For the session «Hacedoras sobre la mar: Galicia transatlántica», to be held on July 10, 2025, we invite students, early career researchers and established scholars to present contributions highlighting the creative experience of women in the Galician transatlantic environment throughout the 20th century. The session will present a selection of research in progress, with 10-minute presentations per contribution. This call for proposals is open to students, researchers with links to Galician institutions or researchers from other latitudes in Spain and abroad, as well as independent scientific or creative projects. Contributions may address a wide range of creative environments, including visual, graphic, sound or textile arts, craft production and cultural management from historiographical, sociological or creative perspectives. Participation in the session will provide the opportunity to receive feedback from the research group of the Hacedoras de Cultura project. Selected papers may be presented in Spanish or Galician.
