The Department of History of Art is seeking to appoint a full-time University Lecturer in Italian Renaissance art, 1400-1600, from 1 September 2013. This Lectureship is a permanent, Established post.

The post-holder will offer a Part II (second/third-year undergraduate) Special Subject Paper in an aspect of Italian art of the period 1400-1600, and will contribute to other undergraduate and MPhil teaching as directed by the Head of Department. S/he will also be expected to recruit and to supervise PhD students.

It is expected that the post-holder will continue to undertake research of the highest calibre and will form part of the Department's REF submission. The successful candidate will preferably show evidence of distinction in already published research in their application and a track record of successful grant applications.

The Department is especially keen to develop its relationship with the Fitzwilliam Museum and it expects that the post-holder's teaching and/or research can be related to strengths in the Museum's holdings (see http://www.fitzmuseum.cam.ac.uk). The post-holder will also be required by the Head of Department to undertake administrative duties.

Candidates should hold a PhD in a relevant subject. They should have experience of successfully developing and delivering teaching in history of art or related disciplines at university level, including both lectures and seminars or smaller group work, and must have the ability to work as part of a team of teachers and to administer courses effectively. A track record of success in attracting external funding is desirable.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to Cambridge for two days at the beginning of Easter Term, on Thursday 2 May and Friday 3 May 2013. They will be asked to give a short lecture to academic staff and graduate students on their research interests on the first day and will attend a formal interview on the second.
