The Division of Arts and Humanities at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) invites applications for an open rank (tenure-track / tenured) faculty position in Early Modern European Art History. Applicants must have expertise in early modern European art and its entanglements with the global histories of empire, colonialism and cultural exchange. The Program seeks scholars who can demonstrate a commitment to innovative research that is open to cross-disciplinary and cross-cultural perspectives. The successful candidate will help develop collaborations with other programs in the Arts & Humanities Division as well as with other divisions at NYUAD. Responsibilities include undergraduate and graduate teaching and advising in the Program, teaching in the Core Curriculum, and service to the university.
The ideal candidate will have a PhD in Art History, an established international publication record and appropriate competence in at least one relevant language. They will have an established international publication record and corresponding teaching experience, including the expertise to supervise BA, MA and PhD students.

Art & Art History at NYUAD is currently undertaking an exciting expansion that seeks to develop a truly global curriculum, and at the same time to consolidate its commitment to bringing Art History, arts practice and design together in one program. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to this dynamic development.
NYUAD Art & Art History faculty are especially active in fostering collaborations with local and regional artists and art institutions, including the NYUAD Art Gallery, and academic organizations and museums. Two of its faculty have founded Al Mawrid, the first Centre for the Study of Arab Art, which also houses Akkasah, a major archive of vernacular and documentary photography from the region.
NYUAD is part of the NYU Global Network which extends across three portal campuses and 11 ‘study away sites’ across the globe.
