Art and Health (Lisbon/online, 10 Nov 23)

MAAT, Avenida 24 de Julho, Lisbon / online, Nov 10, 2023

MAAT

Can art be an ally of the medical sciences? How can museums and other cultural actors contribute to health and well-being? How can creativity contribute to innovation in health? Using a transdisciplinary approach, this international conference aims to share and reflect analytically and critically on the practices that are at the intersection between art and medicine. Through dialogue between professionals and researchers from different countries and disciplinary fields – from medicine, nursing, and neuroscience to imaging in medicine and microbiology, as well as art, design, and architecture – the aim is to open a debate on the present, but also to look towards the future, seeking to understand how art and science, two areas of knowledge often considered as distinct, can be combined and contribute to change and to a better quality of life.

Throughout the day, there will be several panels with the participation of names such as Elisabeth Ioannides, Stephen Legari, Ab Rogers, Luiza Teixeira de Freitas, Rachel Massey or Juliet L King; and keynotes by Isis Betancourt Torres, Semir Zeki and Daisy Fancourt (who will participate online). The conference takes place on November 10, organized by MAAT, at the auditorium of EDP's headquarters on Avenida 24 de Julho, in Lisbon. With live streaming.
