The Chair of Environmental Humanities (Prof. Dr. Sonja Dümpelmann) at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU) in Munich is looking for a lecturer and two postdoctoral researchers to join the team. The positions will start on 1 October 2023.

We are looking for candidates who hold a PhD and work in areas such as Environmental History, Landscape History, Architectural History, Art History (with a focus on environment or space), Urbanism, History of Science, STS, Human Geography, Environmental Studies, Environmental Anthropology, Literary studies (with a focus on environment or space), or similar.

The newly created Chair is part of the renowned Rachel Carson Center for Environment and Society (RCC), an international center dedicated to the study of environment and society by different disciplines, at LMU in Munich. The working language is English.

Lecturer
Tasks and responsibilities:
In addition to a full teaching load, the lecturer will be involved in shaping graduate student activities including graduate student exchange programs.
- Teaching a minimum of 13-18 hrs/week in the new Environment and Society Master of Arts (MA) program, depending on other tasks related to the MA program
- Coordinating activities related to the MA and Certificate programs
- Student advising (including prospective students)
- Supervision of master theses

Postdoctoral Researchers
Tasks and responsibilities:
In addition to teaching two to three courses (5-7 hrs/week) per semester in the Environment and Society Master of Arts program, the candidates will contribute to shaping the academic events and activities at the Chair of Environmental Humanities and the RCC.
Depending on experience, the candidate’s responsibilities and tasks will include:
- Teaching two or three courses (5-7 hrs/week) per semester in the new Environment and Society Master of Arts program
- developing and completing a major research/book project
- developing academic programs and organizing events
