Carlo Crivelli. New studies and interpretations.

“Carlo Crivelli. Le relazioni meravigliose" (Macerata, Civic Museums of Buonaccorsi Palace, 7th October 2022- 12th February 2023) is the first monographic exhibition dedicated to the Venetian painter in Marche region, his territory of adoption. It has helped to focus the attention of the public and specialists back on the figure of the great artist, bringing new knowledge and opening up new paths of research, including the identification of the only work on canvas by Crivelli so far, the Madonna and Child of the Civic Museums of Macerata. Before closing the exhibition, the University of Macerata is promoting an international conference aimed at bringing to light previously unpublished or less investigated aspects of the master's work.
The conference will be held in Macerata on Thursday 2nd and Friday 3rd February 2023, and will mainly deal with the following themes, while still leaving space for other proposals:

• Attributions, context, commission, technique, restoration, artistic legacy;

• Geographies (the Adriatic Sea, the North, the South and the East);

• Iconography, function, devotions, genres;

• Dispersions, collecting, musealization.

Those who are interested are required to submit their proposals by 18th December 2022. Proposals must include: the title of the paper, a brief abstract (maximum 1000 words) and a curriculum vitae (maximum 500 words). In the case of attributional proposals, the images of the works studied must also be sent. Proposals may be either in Italian or in English and must be sent to: francesca.coltrinariunimc.it and giuseppe.capriottiunimc.it. Speakers well be notified by 8th January 2023. The conference will cover part of the costs for the accommodation. The documents will then be published in 2024 in a supplement to the journal “Il Capitale culturale. Studies on the Value of Cultural Heritage” (http://riviste.unimc.it/index.php/cap-cult/index).

La mostra “Carlo Crivelli. Le relazioni meravigliose” (Macerata, Musei civici di Palazzo Buonaccorsi, 7 ottobre 2022- 12 febbraio 2023), la prima monografica dedicata al pittore veneziano nelle Marche, sua terra di adozione, ha contribuito a riportare l’attenzione del pubblico e degli specialisti sulla figura del grande artista, apportando nuove conoscenze e aprendo piste di ricerca, fra cui spicca l’individuazione della sua unica opera su tela, la Madonna con il Bambino dei Musei civici di Macerata. A conclusione della mostra, l’Università di Macerata promuove un convegno internazionale di studi con l’obiettivo di portare alla luce aspetti inediti o meno indagati dell'opera del maestro.
Il convegno, che si terrà a Macerata giovedì 2 e venerdì 3 febbraio 2023, intende includere i seguenti temi, lasciando comunque spazio anche ad altre proposte:

• Attribuzioni, contesto, committenza, tecnica, restauri, lascito artistico;

• Geografie (l’Adriatico, il Nord, il Meridione e l’Oriente);

• Iconografia, funzione, devozioni, generi;

• Dispersioni, collezionismo, musealizzazione.

Gli interessati sono invitati a far pervenire entro il 18 dicembre 2022 una proposta contenente: titolo dell'intervento, un breve abstract (massimo 1000 parole) e un curriculum (massimo 500 parole). Nel caso di proposte attributive occorre inviare anche le immagini delle opere oggetto di studio. Le proposte possono essere in italiano o in inglese e devono essere spedite all'indirizzo: francesca.coltrinariunimc.it e giuseppe.capriottiunimc.it. Le risposte saranno comunicate via e-mail entro l’8 gennaio 2023. Il convegno prevede la copertura di parte delle spese di vitto e alloggio. Gli atti saranno pubblicati nel 2024 in un supplemento della rivista “Il Capitale culturale. Studies on the Value of Cultural Heritage” (http://riviste.unimc.it/index.php/cap-cult/index).
