ETVA Association (Association of Researchers for the Study and Promotion of Knowledge and Heritage of Textiles, Clothing, Appearances, Body and Societies) is organizing its first European thesis seminar which will take place on Friday, November 5, 2021.

The association is a member of GIS Acorso (Appearances, Body and Societies) which supports the Seminar which will take place as part of the Acorso Days (4-5-6 November 2021 : www.acorso.org)

After more than a year of pandemic where it was difficult to access archives and libraries, we want to give the opportunity to discuss the solutions that have been found and which involve the use of new technologies. We invite researchers to reflect on the use of digital tools and the Internet in doctoral studies devoted to textiles, clothing, fashion and appearances.
The theme of the 2021 seminar will be: «Research and digital tools. How to introduce them into the thesis work (textiles, clothing, fashion, appearances) after a year away from libraries and archives ?
Digital tools at the service of Research: contributions and constraints? How to reconcile the time required for mastering digital tools with traditional research? What are the essential digital tools? Cross-cutting tools: can we transpose the digital tools used in other fields to that of research? What are the existing collaborative digital tools and those to be invented? »

As the number of international participants is limited to 8, applications will be selected by a jury made up of researchers, academics and museum directors from different regions of
Europe.
The presentation during the seminar (20 minutes of intervention ; 10 minutes of questions) will be in English or French.

At the end of the day, prizes will be awarded, with the support of Acorso, in the form of research aid (financial allocations within the limit of a global envelope of € 600, posting of the text on the website www.acorso.org and, for a speaker chosen by the jury, possibility of publishing an article in the online journal Apparence (s). Applications are expected by October 18, 2021 at the latest, at the following address: asso.etvagmail.com
