OBOE Journal On Biennials and Other Exhibitions (Università Iuav di Venezia) announces that it will receive articles for the 2022 issues on any subject regarding contemporary art, exhibitions and biennials with a specific interest in the history of biennials and the art system more broadly.
OBOE Journal is a bi-annual, double-blind peer-reviewed, open access, online journal devoted to the study of contemporary art and exhibitions. OBOE Journal intends to investigate the ever-changing relationships between works and spectators in periodic exhibitions as well as their cultural politics, expanding its scope towards the exhibitionary in a broader sense. This includes the moment of exposition, when the artwork, understood as an activator of multiple layers of perception composes our experience of the infinitely complex contemporary moment.
The editors invite scholars interested in publishing with OBOE to submit previously unpublished articles in English, which present reflections on the history of contemporary art as well as on its recent developments, on the theory of art, on exhibitions and the art system. Articles submitted for consideration should not be undergoing other evaluation processes nor have publishing commitments with any other publication.
Articles must be in Word format and follow the journal’s submission guidelines: have an extension between 5,000 and 9,000 words, including footnotes. The abstract of approx. 200 words, and a maximum of 6 keywords should be at the top of the article, whereas the author’s biography (max 150 words) should be either at the bottom of the file or in a separate one.
Manuscript submission guidelines (including footnote formatting, images rights and captions) can be read in detail at http://www.oboejournal.com/index.php/oboe/information/authors.
Manuscripts will be received through the journal’s online publishing platform (OJS) at the link: http://www.oboejournal.com/index.php/oboe/information/authors
Manuscripts should be submitted by October 15, 2021.
