We are pleased to inform you about the official program of the
Critic|all IV International Conference on Architectural Design & Criticism,
to be held on March 25-26th,
organized by the Architectural Design Department of Madrid School of Architecture, Universidad Politécnica de Madrid in collaboration with the School of Architecture and Urbanism of the University of São Paulo.
In its fourth edition, under the topic #dual-ectics, we propose to put into practice the mechanism of comparison as a basic instrument for the construction of architecture culture and theory, addressing the question of the decline of the dual in front of the multiple.
We propose to carry out a critique based on a duality that avoids the oscillatory pendulum of alternative sides as much as it avoids the need to supersede this opposition with a third term, that is, to critically address coupled case studies in a way that brings about a new meaning for any of the two terms compared. In the midst of today’s growing complexities and multiplicities, we selected interpretative work that draws new relations between things, an exercise in sheer comparison, that might lead to a deeper understanding of our discipline.
In addition to the prestigious members of the Scientific Committee, we are proud to count on Tom Avermaete (ETH), Gareth Doherty (GSD Harvard), Carmen Espegel (ETSAM-UPM) and Sven-Olov Wallenstein (Södertörn University) as confirmed keynote speakers.
The Conference follows a biennial program since 2014. In its previous editions it was held at Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura, Universidad Politécnica de Madrid.
The conference will be held online and it is possible to enroll to watch the keynote speakers, in English. Link to register: tiny.cc/wuautz (limited places).
