Confirmed plenary speakers are Dr. Dominic Paterson (Department of
History of Art, University of Glasgow) and Dr. Simon Murray
(Department of Theatre Studies, University of Glasgow).

'The Arts' as an umbrella term encompasses a huge variety of media,
yet it is all too common that academics and artists divide
themselves into somewhat segregated areas of study. However, as
interdisciplinary research becomes more common in the university
context, and artists and performers combine aspects of different
'Arts' in their work, it becomes increasingly important to remove
the barriers impeding cross-disciplinary study.

Due to its status as both a collaborative and multimedia art form,
the film medium is an ideal platform for initiating debate around
the topic of interdisciplinarity in the arts. This conference
seeks to blend the fields of film, theatre, art, music and
performance studies, exploring the ways in which film relates to
a wide spectrum of artistic disciplines. Art, Performance, Film
will open up an interdisciplinary dialogue, addressing a broad
variety of issues in the visual and performing arts. Researchers
and artists from a range of backgrounds will take part in a truly
international conference, generating an exciting and lively debate
and providing a unique platform for exchange between arts
practitioners and academics.
