Sandrart.net - die netzbasierte interdisziplinäre Forschungsplattform zur
Kunst- und Kulturgeschichte des 17. Jahrhunderts geht online. Das von der
Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) geförderte Kooperationsprojekt
Sandrart.net veröffentlicht die erste Version der kommentierten
Online-Ausgabe von Joachim von Sandrarts "Teutscher Academie" im Internet:

von Sandrart (1606-1688) zwischen
1675 und 1680 publizierte, mehrbändige Werk "Teutsche Academie der Edlen
Bau-, Bild- und Mahlerey-Künste" zählt als erste enzyklopädische
Kunstgeschichte in deutscher Sprache zu den wichtigsten Quellentexten der
frühen Neuzeit. Neben umfangreichen Künstlerbiografien enthält es
theoretische Kapitel zu den drei Künsten, eine Übersetzung der
Ovid-Metamorphosen-Paraphrase von Karel van Mander sowie eine mit neuen
Illustrationen versehene Übersetzung von Vincenzo Cartaris "Imagini de i Dei
de gli antichi". Die Online-Edition bietet vollständigen Zugang zum
transkribierten Text und den zahlreichen Kupferstichen der "Teutschen
Academie". Damit steht das Werk erstmals in Gänze und durchsuchbar einer
breiten Leserschaft zur Verfügung.

Der Text kann durch "virtuelles Blättern", über das Inhaltsverzeichnis oder
durch eine Volltextsuche erschlossen werden. Begonnen wurde mit einem
illustrierten Werkverzeichnis aller erwähnten Kunstwerke, das den Text
begleitet; es wird fortlaufend erweitert. Darüber hinaus ist der Text mit
einem Personen­ und Ortsnamenindex versehen und ermöglicht so Rückschlüsse
zum Beispiel auf Besitz und Auftraggeberschaft zu den Werken. Eine von
verschiedenen Schreibweisen unabhängige Suche nach Personen und Orten
ermöglicht das effektive Arbeiten mit dem Text; persistente Adressen sichern
die Zitierfähigkeit (PURL). Sandrart.net versteht sich als interdisziplinäre
Forschungsplattform zur Kunst- und Kulturgeschichte des 17. Jahrhunderts.
Demnächst werden interessierte Wissenschaftler in einem "call for
annotations" eingeladen, mit ihren Kommentaren die Online-Ausgabe zu
ergänzen. Die Arbeiten an der Edition haben im April 2007 begonnen und
werden sich noch über die kommenden drei Jahre hinziehen.

Sandrart.net ­ the Internet-based interdisciplinary research platform on the
history of art and culture in the 17th century goes online. The cooperation
project Sandrart.net, funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG,
German Research Foundation), has published the first version of the
annotated online edition of Joachim von Sandrart¹s "Teutsche Academie" on
the Internet at http://ta.sandrart.net/.
The "Teutsche Academie der Edlen
Bau-, Bild- und Mahlerey-Künste", published by Joachim von Sandrart
(1606-1688) between 1675 and 1680, the first encyclopaedic work on the
history of art written in German, is considered to be one of the most
important source texts of the early modern period.

It contains comprehensive biographies of artists, theoretical chapters on
the three arts, a translation of the Ovid Metamorphoses Paraphrase by Karel
van Mander, as well as a translation of Vincenzo Cartari's "Imagini de i Dei
de gli antichi" with new illustrations. The online edition allows full
access to the transcribed text and the numerous copperplate engravings in
the "Teutsche Academie". This makes the work available to a wide audience
for the first time in its entirety and in searchable form.

The text can by accessed by "virtually browsing the pages", through the
table of contents or using a full-text search. An illustrated catalogue of
all works of art mentioned forms the start, which accompanies the text; this
is continuously being extended. Furthermore, the text is equipped with an
index of persons and place names and therefore allows the reader to draw
conclusions about the works, for example on their ownership and who
commissioned them. A search that tolerates spelling variations for persons
and places is provided and allows users to actually work with the text;
persistent addresses ensure that citations are possible (PURL).

Sandrart.net sees itself as an interdisciplinary research platform on the
history of art and culture in the 17th century. In the near future,
interested scholars will receive a "call for annotations" inviting them to
add their comments to the online edition. Work on this edition started in
April 2007 and will continue over the next three years.

Sandrart.net ­ La piattaforma informatica di ricerca interdisciplinare per

progetto di cooperazione Sandrart.net, promosso dalla Deutsche

La Teutsche Academie der Edlen Bau-, Bild- und Mahlerey-Künste, opera in più
volumi redatta da Joachim von Sandrart (1606-1688) tra il 1675 ed il 1680, e
prima vera e propria 'enciclopedia' di storia dell'arte in lingua tedesca, è
annoverata fra le fonti più significative dell'Età moderna.
Arricchita da innumerevoli biografie di artisti, la Teutsche Academie è
composta anche da capitoli teorici sulle tre arti, da una traduzione delle
Metamorfosi di Ovidio (a partire dalla versione di Karel van Mander) e da
una redazione in tedesco, corredata di nuove illustrazioni, de Le imagini de
i Dei degli antichi di Vincenzo Cartari.
Sandrart.net offre un accesso completo al testo (interamente trascritto)
della Teutsche Academie ed alle sue numerose incisioni. Per la prima volta,
quindi, grazie a questa edizione online, l'opera sandrartiana diventa
fruibile per un vasto pubblico di lettori in una versione integrale,
corredata di specifiche funzioni di ricerca.
Il testo può essere consultato attraverso uno scorrimento "virtuale" delle
pagine seicentesche, tramite indici o con una ricerca lessicale a tutto
testo. È stato inoltre previsto un catalogo illustrato di tutte le opere
d'arte menzionate da Sandrart: destinato ad accompagnare il testo, questo
catalogo è ancora in corso di realizzazione e viene periodicamente ampliato.
L'edizione è anche provvista di un indice di persone e un indice di luoghi,
che consentono di individuare agilmente, a prescindere dalla grafia
sandrartiana, non solo artisti, letterati, proprietari di opere e
committenti, ma anche edifici sacri, palazzi, fontane ecc. Infine,
l'identificazione dei documenti è garantita da un sistema di indirizzi
persistenti (PURL).
Sandrart.net si presenta come una piattaforma di ricerca interdisciplinare
per la storia dell'arte e della cultura del XVII secolo. Prossimamente gli
studiosi interessati verranno invitati ad integrare l'edizione online con i
loro commenti. I lavori per questo progetto sono iniziati nell'aprile 2007 e
si protrarranno ancora per i prossimi tre anni.
