The Centre for Studies of Surrealism and its Legacies has received a major
AHRC award for a three-year research project on ?Surrealism and Sexuality?,
commencing in September 2008. We are seeking to appoint a Teaching Fellow
(0.8 of full-time) in Art History and Visual Studies at the University of
Manchester. You should have a PhD in a subject area relevant to studies of
surrealism and/or its legacies. You will be expected to undertake
replacement teaching of between 3 and 4 taught course units per year. In
addition, you will have an administrative role within the Centre for
Studies of Surrealism and its Legacies, arranging events and providing
editorial assistance for the online journal, Papers of Surrealism. There
will be opportunities to participate where appropriate in the Centre?s
academic events. The position is 0.8 of full-time, equivalent to 4 days per
week. It is available from 1 September 2008 and is tenable for up to three
years.

Salary: GBP 30,912 - 33,780 p.a. (pro rata)

Postdoctoral Research Associate (Surrealism and Sexuality)

The Centre for Studies of Surrealism and its Legacies has received a major
AHRC award for a three-year research project on ?Surrealism and Sexuality?,
commencing in September 2008. We are seeking an outstanding candidate for a
post-doctoral position working with Dr David Lomas at the University of
Manchester. You should have a PhD in a relevant subject area. This is
likely to be some aspect of surrealism, with a demonstrable research
interest in issues of gender and sexuality. You will be a key contributor
to the joint activities and outputs of the project. In addition, you will
be expected to pursue individual research leading to a major publication
during the lifetime of the project. You will undertake some teaching and
research student supervision. The position is available from 1 September
2008 and is tenable for up to three years.

Salary: GBP 27,466 - GBP 33,780 p.a.
