Note: While the May 20 deadline for submissions (see below) is still
two weeks away, persons who are interested in participating in the
workshop but who are not also attending the 2007 CSSH Congress may wish
act sooner. Due to Congress-related traffic, flights to Saskatoon on and
about June 1 are becoming increasingly crowded.

About the Workshop

In 1962, Clement Greenberg--arguably the most influential art critic of
the late 20th century--became the first art critic to lead the renowned
Emma Lake Artists' Workshop.

On the 45th anniversary of Greenberg's visit, this workshop aims both to
evaluate Greenberg's legacy and to explore new work in aesthetics and
art criticism, especially as related to Kant and modernist aesthetics.

The workshop has been timed to follow immediately after the 2007
Congress of the Social Sciences and Humanities in Saskatoon
<http://www.fedcan.ca/congress2007/>. The idea being that workshop
participants will have an opportunity not only for the usual edifying
discussion, but also for a sort of working vacation at the historic and
picturesque Emma Lake campus following the Congress.

Call for Abstracts

Abstracts of 100 - 350 words are invited on topics related to the
workshop theme, broadly construed. Submissions exploring the theme from
a philosophical, critical, or art historical perspective (or some
combination of these) are all welcome.

Full length papers (of about 4000 words; 25-35 minutes reading time) may
also be submitted.

(if any) with your submission.

Selected papers from the workshop will be published in a special issue
of the refereed journal /AE: The Canadian Aesthetics Journal/ devoted to
the workshop proceedings.

Symposia and Books Sessions

Proposals for symposia and book sessions are also welcome. Include an
outline of the topic or the book title, as well as the names and e-mail
addresses of participants.

Graduate Student Grants: A limited number of grants are available to
cover registration and accommodation fees for graduate students. Please
