AHPT Innovative Course Design Competition
The Art Historians Interested in Pedagogy and Technology, a College Art
Association affiliated society, invites entries for its first Innovative
Course Design Competition. The purpose of the competition is to support
and promote excellence in technology-mediated instruction and to provide a
glimpse of the best practices currently employed within the discipline.
This award offers art history faculty the opportunity to receive national
recognition for their innovative approaches to teaching with technology.
AHPT is pleased to announce that Dr. Marilyn Aronberg Lavin of Princeton
University will serve as guest judge for the competition. In addition to
her distinguished career as a scholar of Italian Renaissance art, Dr.
Lavin is a pioneer in teaching art history with technology. The Piero
Project, founded by Dr. Lavin in 1989, exemplifies the potential of art
history's use of digital resources.
The competition is open to art history faculty employing digital or other
technologies in the classroom. The competition is open to face-to-face,
hybrid/blended, and online courses at any level. It is furthermore open to
entire courses or units within a traditional art history course. Four
finalists will be selected to present their courses at the College Art
Association annual meeting in February, 2007.
