Dear List Members,
I am doing research on Charles Henry Geerts to help a colleague with an
appraisal of a marble figure of a young woman (perhaps Psyche) that is
believed to be by Geerts.
My appraiser colleague is waiting to view the entire work (bottom, back,
etc.) to see if there are any signatures. Assuming it is by Geerts, we
would like whatever books, articles, exhibition catalogues that might
include him to some extent. Some information on him identified him as
Charles Henry Geerts (when he worked in England) and as Gearls (which we
think is a mistake among other experts that was passed on one to another).
So far, there are no books in any language that are just about him. I've
checked the New York Public Library, the Metropolitan Museum, etc.
If anyone knows of any books on the artist or of the locations of any works
by him, I would certainly appreciate the input. I have not found any books
on him in any language and some of the dictionaries / encyclopedias that do
include him have some conflicting, contradictory information.
Please contact me off-list (I guess that is preferable) at hartel70aol.com

Thank you for your time and help.
Regards,
Herb Hartel
