The Figuring the Body symposium is in dialogue with the concurrent CSUS
Festival of the Arts exhibition, Bay Area Figure Painters, and with the
work of visiting Festival artists Carrie Mae Weems, Rina Bannerjee, and
Sandra Davis.

Keynote: "The Not Still Life: Yvonne Rainer's Short Films and the Body
as Object in the 1960s," Carrie Lambert-Beatty, Assistant Professor of
History of Art and Architecture and of Visual and Environmental Studies
at Harvard University

Send 500-word proposals for 25-minute illustrated lectures on the topic
of the body in art and visual culture by January 30, 2005.
