Faculty position in the field of Aboriginal History

The University College of the Fraser Valley has provided innovative and
comprehensive educational programs for over 25 years. As an undergraduate
degree granting institution enrolling over 7000 students, UCFV's emphasis is
on teaching excellence, while promoting scholarship as an integral part of
instruction.

The History Department invites applications for a full-time, permanent faculty
position in the field of Aboriginal History, commencing August 1, 2005,
subject to funding. UCFV has a long-standing interest in the field of
Aboriginal studies and integration with local Aboriginal communities. The
successful candidate will have the opportunity to help develop UCFV's
Aboriginal Studies Program.

Qualifications:
Candidates should have a Ph.D. in History, First Nations Studies, Indigenous
Studies, Educational Studies, or a related discipline, and be prepared to
teach lower and upper division courses in Aboriginal and Canadian history.
They should have a commitment to excellence in teaching and research, as well
as a documented ability to work with Aboriginal students and communities.

Applications should include a curriculum vitae, a statement of teaching
philosophy, a summary of current and future research interests, samples of
published writing, and documentation of teaching performance. Applicants

Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship
Late Antique and Byzantine Studies

King's College London intends to award a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in this
field to an outstanding, recently postdoctoral scholar, thanks to the
generosity of the International Relations Committee of the Hellenic Republic,
Ministry of Culture; the A.G. Leventis Foundation, and the Michael Marks
Charitable Trust. The Fellowship will be tenable from January 2005 at KCL in
the Classics and Byzantine and Modern Greek Departments for two years.
Eligible candidates must not be already holding, nor have held, a permanent
university post. The fellow will be expected to identify and develop lines of
original enquiry and gain experience of teaching.

Part-Time Online Art History Tutors
Department for Continuing Education

The Department for Continuing Education is one of the largest Departments of
the University of Oxford with some 15,000 part-time adult students taking
courses each year. Since 1996, the Department has been investigating ways of
using technology to extend opportunities for studying at Oxford and has
developed a number of online courses that are delivered via the Internet. The
Department is currently expanding its programme of accredited short online
courses and is looking to recruit part-time online art history tutors.

As an online tutor, you will join our panel of more than 200 part-time tutors.
Our tutors are a diverse, lively and interesting group who share a knowledge
and love of their subject and most importantly a desire to convey their
expertise and enthusiasm to students. We are looking to recruit tutors with:

A first degree (or higher), and a minimum of two years postgraduate
study in art history.
Detailed and up-to-date knowledge of art history.
Teaching experience. Experience of teaching adults or teaching online
would be an advantage.
The ability to motivate, encourage and support a group of up to 25
adult students, with mixed subject knowledge, many of whom will be studying
online for the first time.
A willingness to learn the skills of tutoring online.
Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
* Good IT skills, including experience of using e-mail and the Internet.

All teaching will be online, so applications are welcome from tutors
throughout the UK and beyond. Tutors will be expected to be online for 4 to 8
hours per week during their course and must provide their own computing
facilities and Internet access.
