Das Bucerius Kunst Forum ist ein von der ZEIT-Stiftung Ebelin und Gerd Bucerius
getragenes neues
Ausstellungshaus im Zentrum Hamburgs. Es zeigt jährlich vier Ausstellungen von
der Antike bis zur
klassischen Moderne.

Das Bucerius Kunst Forum sucht zum 1. September 2004
eine/-n
wissenschaftliche/-n Volontär/-in
Vorausgesetzt werden ein - möglichst mit Promotion abgeschlossenes - Studium
der Kunstgeschichte,
besondere Interessen in den Bereichen Ausstellungswesen und Publikationen sowie
gute
Fremdsprachenkenntnisse.

Geboten wird Ihnen eine 12-monatige praxisbezogene Ausbildung mit der
Möglichkeit zu
eigenständiger wissenschaftlicher und praktischer Arbeit.

Die Vergütung erfolgt in Anlehnung an die übliche Volontariatsvergütung.

Assistant Professor in the European Studies Programme

The University of Hong Kong is at the international forefront of higher
learning and research,
with more than 100 teaching departments and subdivisions of studies, and more
than 60 research
institutes and centres. It has over 20.000 undergraduate and postgraduate
students from 48
countries. English is the medium of instruction. The University is committed to

Assistant Professor in the European Studies Programme
(Ref.: RF-2003/2004-314)

Applications are invited for appointment as Assistant Professor in the European
Studies Programme
in the Faculty of Arts. The appointee will be the Coordinator of the European
Studies Programme,
tenable from as soon as possible. The appointment will initially be made on a
three-year
fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal.

The Programme in European Studies is a key undergraduate interdisciplinary
studies programme
(UISP) in the Faculty of Arts. It is a highly successful student-centred
programme, which has
gained rapidly in popularity since its inception in 1995. Students majoring in
European Studies
must acquire fluency in at least one European language, follow three core
courses on aspects of
European culture, politics, and institutions, and choose a number of
supplementary credits from
courses offered by the Departments of Comparative Literature, English, Fine
Arts, Geography,
History, Music, Philosophy, Politics and Public Administration, Sociology, and
School of Economics
and Finance. Starting with the academic year 2004-05, a fourth core course
involving a field trip
to Europe will be launched. Further information about the Faculty can be

Applicants must possess a Ph.D. degree, preferably in European Studies or a
relevant related
discipline in the Humanities and Social Sciences, and should be able to
demonstrate a strong
research record and a well-developed research agenda. Applicants should be able
to provide
evidence of teaching excellence with a solid background in European Studies
and/or extensive
experience in European Studies interdisciplinary teaching Previous
administrative experience will
be highly desirable. Strong interpersonal skills are required for this
demanding position.
Starting annual salary for Assistant Professorship is amend HK $ 539,532
(approx. US$1=HK$7.8)
(subject to review from time to time at the entire discretion of the
University). The appointment
will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a
retirement benefits scheme,
totalling up to 15% of basic salary.

At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 16% of gross income. The
appointment comes leave,
and medical/dental benefits. The provision of housing benefits (when:
applicable) is subject to
review.
