The University of St Andrews Classics Society, Archaeology Society, Anthropology Society, and Art History Society are pleased to announce they will be hosting a conference on aesthetics for April 3rd, 2020.
Simply put, this conference is aimed at creating an interdisciplinary space which provokes thought and highlights areas of debate within the study of aesthetics. The single-track conference will consist of three broad panels: "Aesthetics: Religion, Spirituality, and Magic" which will seek to highlight a diversity of perspectives and case studies on the role of aesthetics in the realms of religion, spirituality, and magic. This will be followed by "Aesthetics and Text" in which the focus will shift to how text(s) can impact our understanding of aesthetics, and - last of all - "Aesthetics and Reception" in which we will conclude by looking at how different aesthetics are received across time and space.
Regarding papers: if you are interested in taking part, please submit a 250 word abstract with an indication of which panel you would like to sit on to Erik Crnkovich (ec241st-andrews.ac.uk) by January 24th, 2020. Following shortly after, panel allocations will be made by February 7th, and full papers are asked to be available by the 18th of March.
Please direct any questions to Erik Crnkovich (ec241st-andrews.ac.uk).
