Focussing on the ,Object’: Transcultural Spheres and Production Sites of Sculpture in Early Modern Europe

International Workshop

The international workshop, on the basis of a re-invigorated understanding of the object as the starting point of a cognitive process, hopes on the one hand to strengthen the neglected genre of early modern sculpture, in particular its theory and, on the other, further and rework the essential research on the way the transfer of knowledge at relevant production centers and domains occur. The goal is to trace the pathways that ideas take and how effective they become. The perspectival slant of this kick-off event is meant to create a foundation for the formation of a sculptural network.
