The MAD-Getty Paper Project Curatorial Fellowship

The musée des Arts décoratifs in Paris offers a 18-month Curatorial Fellowship, from January 2019 to June 2020, supported by the Getty Foundation as part of The Paper Project: Prints and Drawings Curatorship in the 21st Century.
The purpose of the fellowship is to provide an opportunity to a young scholar looking to become a curator of works on paper to be trained under the curator responsible for the collection in all the aspects of the profession, with the aim of acquiring skills and autonomy in the field. The planned training programme involves inventorying part of the collection, researching attributions and bibliographic Information, organizing seminars, hosting scholars, following up loan files and the restoration of works. It would also include making a personal contribution to the planned exhibition and publication on the department’s collections (MAD, March-June 2020).
Desired qualifications of the fellow
• A post-graduate qualification (Master 2 level for European students) in history of art, preferably relating to works on paper;
• Full Professional fluency in French;
• Fluency in English;
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team

Interviews are scheduled to take place at the Musée des Arts décoratifs Paris on Monday December 10th 2018. No travel expenses will be reimbursed. Interviews may be arranged by Skype.

Poste de pensionnaire-conservateur au Musée des Arts décoratifs

Avec le soutien de la Getty Foundation, le musée des Arts décoratifs ouvre un poste de pensionnaire-conservateur (Curatorial Fellowship) au département des Arts graphiques pour une durée de 18 mois (janvier 2019-juin 2020).
L’objectif de la formation est de permettre à un étudiant ou à un jeune professionnel souhaitant devenir conservateur en arts graphiques d’acquérir une expérience la plus complète possible dans ce domaine en participant au travail d’inventaire de la collection, de recherche d’attributions, de constitution de dossiers documentaires ; en accueillant des séminaires et des chercheurs ; en suivant des dossiers de prêt et de restauration des œuvres. Le lauréat pourra également apporter une contribution personnelle à l’exposition et au catalogue sur les collections du département, allant du Moyen Age au XXIe siècle, prévue au MAD au printemps 2020.
Le recrutement s’inscrit dans le cadre du Paper Project (« Prints and Drawings Curatorship in the 21st Century ») lancé par la Getty Foundation en janvier2018 pour la formation de conservateurs d’œuvres sur papier.
Qualifications requises
- Formation en histoire de l’art (niveau master 2 requis), de préférence en lien avec les œuvres sur papier
- Très bon niveau en français écrit et oral
- Bon niveau en Anglais
- Goût pour le travail en équipe

Calendrier
- 31 octobre : date limite de dépôt des candidatures
- 30 novembre : envoi des résultats aux candidats présélectionnés
- 10 décembre : audition des candidats présélectionnés par un jury ad hoc. Aucun frais de transport ne sera remboursé. En cas d’impossibilité de déplacement, les entretiens peuvent être effectués par Skype.
