The Department of Art at Colby College invites applicants for a one-year sabbatical replacement position in American art history at the rank of Faculty Fellow.

The four-course teaching load includes a two-semester survey of American art, from ca. 1650 to the present, and two additional courses in any of the following areas: Native American art, Latino art, Latin American art, and modern architecture. We are especially interested in candidates who, through their scholarship, teaching, and service, will promote diversity at Colby. The successful candidate will have opportunities to engage with the rich collections in American art at the Colby College Museum of Art and to participate in activities organized by the newly established Lunder Institute for American Art.

Applicants must have completed a Ph.D. in art history before the start of the position on September 1, 2018. A complete application includes a cover letter, curriculum vitae, statement of teaching philosophy, three letters of recommendation, and sample syllabus for a survey of American art history.
