Full-Time Faculty Position in Modern/Contemporary Art and Architecture

The Department of Archaeology and History of Art at Koç University invites applications for an open-rank position in modern/contemporary art and architecture, beginning in September 2018.

We seek scholars with research and teaching expertise in the history and theory of modern/contemporary art and architecture, in transnational and transregional contexts.

The successful candidate is expected to show accomplishments in teaching, a strong record of research, and a publication record in internationally recognized (peer-reviewed) journals. We welcome applications from candidates engaged in original scholarship in
modern/contemporary art and architecture in a global context and familiar with developments in Turkey. Preference will be given to applicants with demonstrated interests in engaging with the artistic scene in their community through curatorial or other types of outreach work and applicants who are enthusiastic about using digital technologies in teaching and research.

Teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels is expected, as well as individual mentoring of MA and PhD students. Two classes per semester is the standard teaching requirement at Koç University. The faculty in the Department of Archaeology and History of Art at Koç University work closely with other departments at the university including the Media and Visual Arts Department; the successful candidate will be expected to develop opportunities for interdisciplinary cooperation within the university and with the many museums, galleries, and cultural institutions in Istanbul, particularly those affiliated with Koç University.

Application review will commence on 1 February 2018. Koç University is an English speaking university and all teaching is conducted in English.
Salary is commensurate with experience.
