Modes of Collaboration between the Arts and Sciences
Many arts universities are currently exploring the capacities of the arts and sciences as well as their interdependencies. While their specialist competencies enable synergetic collaboration, they also reveal the differences and similarities between the respective research cultures and their particular procedures, methods, and principles.
The conference seeks to initiate a debate on such collaboration in artistic research by investigating several potential modes of teamwork. Core conference themes include modes of communication, the development of transdisciplinary procedures, and the cognitive interests implicit in such collaborative constellations. Which special or added value emerges from cooperations between artists and scientists? The conference thus attempts to identify the potential of artistic research for successful collaboration between the arts and sciences.
