ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR IN ARCHITECTURE
FACULTY OF ARCHITECTURE, DESIGN AND PLANNING

We seek to appoint an Associate Professor to join our team to consolidate our reputation as an international centre for architecture which makes a real difference to the discipline and what it offers humanity. We are particularly interested in applicants with disciplinary leadership, whether in research, research training – related to the new design studio-based PhD, education – or course direction.

To be successful in the position, you will have as a minimum requirement:
• professional qualifications and experience as an architect with evidence of highly innovative work in theory or practice which is receiving international acknowledgement for its innovation, insight, experimentation or advancement of architecture
• international reputation and track record for academic research, publication and successful external grant applications in architecture; engagement with universities, museums, and arts organisations within or outside Australia
• demonstrable capacity to initiate and drive collaborative cross-disciplinary research, teaching and engagement
• evidence of ability to attract and supervise higher degree research students and postdoctoral candidates
• evidence of ability to envision new directions of research to anticipate changes in the field of architecture
• demonstrated teaching ability at tertiary level
• experience in academic leadership and management
• demonstrated experience in curriculum development and reform.

The position is full-time continuing subject to the completion of a satisfactory probation period for new appointees. The faculty will consider the possibility of a fractional appointment if appropriate.

Remuneration package: $154K p.a. including a base salary of up to $130K, leave loading and up to 17% superannuation. Level of appointment will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Some assistance towards relocation cost and visa sponsorship will be available for the successful appointee if required.

DIRECTOR OF HERITAGE CONSERVATION PROGRAM/
SENIOR LECTURER

We now seek a highly ambitious new Program Director to join our team, to consolidate our reputation as a centre for Heritage Conservation that makes a real difference to the field and what it offers. You will be undertaking highly innovative work, which is receiving international acknowledgement for its innovation, insight, experimentation or advancement of heritage architecture, heritage conservation, heritage preservation or adaptive reuse and design of heritage buildings.

This is an opportunity to make a substantial contribution to leadership, teaching and research in heritage conservation. You will extend and develop your research area by means of traditional and/or non-traditional research outputs and external grant applications. You will develop and foster a culture of research collaboration in the discipline, mentor junior researchers, and develop the basis for research collaborations across the Faculty and more widely, within the University. You will coordinate and teach heritage conservation at a masters level and at times, in undergraduate teaching. Teaching responsibilities will include the coordination of the heritage conservation master’s program and delivery in whole or part of selected core and elective units of study in areas of your expertise. You will also attract and supervise higher degree research students and postdoctoral candidates.

To be successful in this position you will have:
• a professional qualification in a relevant field
• a PhD, demonstrated research profile and developed research agenda
• demonstrated teaching ability and track record of successful lecturing and tutoring experience in heritage conservation at university level
• demonstrated ability to supervise postgraduate and senior undergraduate students
• experience and interest in developing opportunities for interaction, cross-teaching and research development across Faculty programs
• ability to pursue original research anticipating new directions in the field of heritage conservation
• evidence of academic leadership and management skills

LECTURERS/SENIOR LECTURERS IN ARCHITECTURE

We are looking to make academic appointments at Senior Lecturer/Lecturer Levels B/C who will make a substantial contribution to teaching and research in architecture. Last year we appointed six new Faculty members. We now seek at least two highly ambitious new members who want to join our team to consolidate our reputation as an international centre for architecture which makes a real difference to the discipline and what it offers humanity. We are particularly interested in applicants who are seeking leadership roles, whether in research, research training – particularly in the new design studio-based PhD, education – or course direction.

You will be an architect undertaking highly innovative work in theory or practice which is receiving international acknowledgement for its innovation, insight, experimentation or advancement of architecture.

To be successful in the position, you will have as a minimum requirement:
• a PhD, a demonstrated research profile and developed research agenda or a portfolio of creative work demonstrating a nationally recognised record of innovative research-led architectural design practice
• established track record of published research through traditional research outputs and/or creative works
• the capacity to coordinate and teach architectural design across the five years of the professional architecture degrees
• experience in teaching design studios with demonstrated teaching ability and track record of successful lecturing and tutoring experience in architecture at university level
• demonstrated ability to supervise postgraduate and senior undergraduate students
• experience and interest in developing opportunities for interaction, cross-teaching and research development across Faculty programs
• ability to pursue original research anticipating new directions in the field of architecture/architectural design.

A more substantial track record combined with evidence of academic leadership and management skills, together with experience in curriculum design, are required at Senior Lecturer Level C.

The positions are full-time continuing subject to the completion of a satisfactory probation period for new appointees.

Remuneration package: $104-$128K p.a. including a base salary Level B-C $88K-$108K, leave loading and up to 17% superannuation. Level of appointment will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Some assistance towards relocation cost and visa sponsorship will be available for the successful appointee if required.
