The North Street Review is a peer-viewed annual publication for original
and innovative postgraduate research in the field of Art History. The
Review is edited by postgraduate students in the School of Art History
at the University of St. Andrews and until 2013 was called the
University of St. Andrews Journal of Art History and Museum Studies.
We hereby invite submissions of essays (2,000 - 5,000 words, including
endnotes) from the discourses of art and visual culture, including work
that spans interdisciplinary and intermedial boundaries, and with no
constraints on time period and geographical location. Potential areas of
study include, but are not limited to:
- Art History;
- Painting;
- Sculpture;
- Photography;
- Architecture;
- Text/Image;
- Performance Art;
- Furniture;
- Iconology;
- Museum and Gallery Studies.
Each submission should be accompanied by a 100 word biography, and an
abstract of not more than 300 words including:
- Proposed title of the essay;
- Summary of the main argument(s);
- Importance of the essay and its contribution to Art History
scholarship; and
- Any additional, relevant information.
The North Street Review encourages illustrated submissions but stresses
the responsibility of the author in both providing the images and
securing permissions to reproduce them. Please read the Journal
Copyright Agreement before making a submission.
All submissions must be in English and adhere to the North Street Review
style guide, available through our website. Submissions can be made
through the North Street Review website at
www.ojs.st-andrews.ac.uk/index.php/nsr/about/submissions, where you will
be asked to register and complete the online submission process.
Submissions should be in either Microsoft Word or PDF file formats. You
will be asked to follow a Preparation Checklist before making a
submission.
