Open-rank Position in Digital Humanities, IE University, Madrid

Madrid, IE University
Application deadline: Nov 30, 2026

Shana Cooperstein, McGill University

The School of Arts and Humanities at IE University invites applications for an open-rank position (assistant or associate professor) in Digital Humanities, effective September 2027. We are looking for candidates with a PhD in a humanistic discipline who employ computational methods in their research. This may include, but is not limited to data visualization, digital reconstruction, network analysis, NLP, text mining, and corpora development.

Candidates should be firmly committed to scholarship in one of the disciplines within the humanities. While not required, a focus on one or more regions in the Global South, the premodern period, and/or the ability to contribute to the School’s UNESCO Chair in AI Ethics will also be considered a strong asset for this role.

Candidates should have the ability to publish in top-tier peer-reviewed journals, to teach courses related to their expertise, and to interact and work closely with faculty from other disciplines. Teaching responsibilities are approximately a 2-1 load, divided across introductory and advanced undergraduate students, as well as master-level programs in other schools.

English is our working language and the primary language of instruction. Knowledge of Spanish is therefore not required.

Application Instructions

Applications should include a cover letter and CV, a one-page teaching statement, three confidential recommendation letters, and one sample research paper. We will be holding virtual interviews in January 2027. Interested candidates should submit their application before November 30, 2026 via Interfolio at: https://apply.interfolio.com/195869
