The Department of the History of Art at Johns Hopkins University invites applications for a full-time position in the Art and Architecture of the Medieval World at the rank of associate professor (with tenure) to begin July 1, 2027. Consideration will also be given to candidates at an advanced assistant rank (tenure track). The department seeks a leading scholar of demonstrated excellence with an ambitious research agenda, a significant publication profile, a commitment to teaching and mentorship at both undergraduate and graduate levels, and a readiness to articulate their own understanding of medieval pre-modernity in a changing discipline. While preference will be given to scholars whose geographical, temporal, or cultural focus complements existing strengths in the department, we welcome the broadest range of local, regional, transregional, or comparative approaches to the study of art and the built environment. In addition, applicants at the associate level should provide names of three references; applicants at the assistant level should arrange to have three letters of reference sent on their behalf. Salary Range or Pay Grade
$121,500-$248,500 per year

Our department offers an undergraduate major and minor and has a PhD program. Faculty contribute through classes, seminars and mentorship at all levels.
