The Italian Art Society Emerging Scholars Committee invites submissions for 10-minute virtual lightning talks centered on Bologna, in celebration of the city that hosted our 2026 Kress Lecture. This event will be held via Zoom on November 19, 2026 at 6:00 PM EST. Dr. Benjamin Weil (Medieval Academy of America) will serve as respondent.

We welcome papers from early career scholars that engage with any period of Bolognese history. Projects at all stages, including works in progress, are encouraged, as this event is intended as a space for community and conversation.

Eligible applicants include:
- M.A. or Ph.D. students
- M.A. or Ph.D. holders within six years of receiving their degree
- Independent scholars
- M.A. or Ph.D. holders within ten years of receiving their degree who hold non-tenure-track positions

Please submit a 150-word abstract and a current CV (no more than 3 pages) to iasemergingscholarsgmail.com by October 12. Decisions will be sent by October 19.

Selected speakers must be active IAS members by the time of the event.
