59th International Congress of Americanists (ICA), Medellín, Colombia
Eingabeschluss : 06.07.2026

Sanja Savkic Sebek, Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz – Max-Planck-Institut

The call for symposia and round table proposals for the 59th International Congress of Americanists (ICA), to be held in Medellín, Colombia, from 5 to 9 July 2027, remains open until 6 July 2026.

The thematic area “Art and Aesthetics” welcomes proposals addressing visual, material, performative, sensory, and aesthetic practices across the Americas, from ancient to contemporary contexts.

We particularly encourage proposals that bring different periods, regions, disciplines, and methodological perspectives into dialogue, and that open new directions for thinking about art, aesthetics, visual culture, material culture, heritage, museums, architecture, performance, and related fields in the Americas.

The International Congress of Americanists has long served as one of the leading international forums dedicated to the study of the Americas and the Caribbean. Beyond presenting research, it provides a space where new intellectual exchanges, collaborative initiatives, and research directions take shape.
