“Image-Spaces“ of Negotiation: Topology, Virtuality, Performativity
The workshop explores various historical topologies of negotiation as virtual spaces. We will examine how public spaces — such as town halls, churches, assembly halls, audience chambers, or courtrooms — should be conceived not merely as sites of representation, but as "normative image spaces" in which regulation both shapes and is shaped by architecture, as well as mobile artifacts, spatial designs, and performative actions (ceremonies and rituals). How are audiences and collective practices being affected through virtual spaces of negotiation? How should these spaces be described in terms of their specific normative function, eliciting or directing the conduct of actors within distinct legal, theological, or social environments?
