An exciting opportunity for a specialist in Museum Curating and Collections Management to join the MA teaching team at Birkbeck’s History of Art Department.

You will join an existing team of museums specialists on the MA Museum Cultures and contribute to the development and delivery of new pathways in Curating and Collections Management.
You will have professional experience of curating and collections management. We welcome applicants from across the museum sector. You may have worked in science, technology, natural history, arts, or history museums and / or have experience of working with African, Asian, Oceanian, South and Central American, or Caribbean collections.
The role offers scope for you to be part of a thriving research community, to support postgraduate students as they prepare for their professional careers, to shape the curriculum, to develop novel approaches to teaching and assessment, and to build links with museums.

You will have professional experience of museum curating and collections management; excellent organizational skills; and ideally experience of teaching at graduate or postgraduate level.

Remuneration:
Payment is based on an hourly rate depending on length of continuous service with the College (starting rate £61.68 per hour inclusive of pro-rata London Allowance and holiday pay) for contact hours worked. This hourly rate is based on the starting point of Grade 7 and is inclusive of a ‘Duties Related to Teaching Multiplier’ which covers preparation, teaching, administration, assessment marking and other examining duties in connection with the course.
