Ausschreibung:

Konkret bedeutet dies dreierlei:

Call for Applications:
Klaus Heyne-Award for Research in German Romanticism

The inaugural Klaus Heyne-Award for Research in German Romanticism will be awarded for an outstanding contribution to the study of Romanticism. The award is endowed with a total sum of 15,000 euros and will be conferred on the winner at Goethe University (GU) in October 2021. This ceremony is planned to be held in Frankfurt but will be hosted online if needed. The award and prize money are split into two categories: a sum of 5,000 euros will be conferred on the winner non-earmarked, in addition to 10,000 euros which will be used towards conceptualising, organising and conducting a conference dedicated to the study of Romanticism. The conference is supposed to be hosted at Goethe University in the year 2022 and is supported by the GU’s professorship of New German Literature with a Focus on Romanticism Studies.

The call for applications for the Klaus Heyne-Award for Research in German Romanticism is addressed to early career researchers and is not limited to a specific discipline. This means that, firstly, only researchers working under fixed-term contracts or in non-tenure positions (PhD students, postdoc researchers, project employees, or assistant professors) are eligible for the award. Secondly, not only researchers from Germany but also those from abroad can apply for the Klaus Heyne-award. Nationality and country of residence are not taken under consideration as long as the candidate proves the pertinence of his/her contribution to the study of German Romanticism. The work meant to be reviewed for the award, however, should be written in either English or German. Thirdly, researchers from all fields and disciplines related to the study of Romanticism are encouraged to apply. The scope of writings which can be submitted for the applicationis broad: PhD theses and habilitation treatises in addition tocollected volumes, exhibition catalogues, or single essays/articles will be considered, given that the submission reveals new insights into German Romanticism and/or provides a substantial (theoretical, methodical) contribution for Romanticism Studies. The selection process of the piece to be awarded the prize is tied to the criteria of ‘relevance’ and ‘(methodical) innovation’ only, which also requires taking into account the form of publication (PhD thesis, essay, collected volume etc.). Only one contribution per candidate is accepted for application. If the application materials have already been pub-ished, the books and manuscripts submitted should not be older than three years.

Please email you application – consisting of a) CV and list of publications in one pdf-file; and b) the manuscript to be reviewed for the award in a second file – to Frederike Middelhoff, Professor of New German Literature with a Focus on Romanticism Studies: Middelhoffem-uni-frankfurt.de.by 14 March 2021.
The award committee will send informing regarding the shortlist and the award recipient during the 2021 summer term.
