CRL Digitization Project Survey: Decorative Arts & Architecture

Bernie Reilly

The Center for Research Libraries is a not-for-profit consortium of
over 200 universities, colleges and independent research
libraries. CRL supports advanced research in the humanities, sciences
and social sciences by ensuring the survival and availability of
knowledge resources critical to those disciplines.

H-Net and CRL are exploring the idea of extended uses of H-Net's
networks to assist in the development of CRL's collections and create
new content possibilities for H-Net. As a preliminary effort to gauge
interest and feasibility, the H-Net Council and the editor of this list
have given permission for us to distribute the following very brief
survey. We hope that interested scholars will take just a moment to
review it and answer if appropriate to their research interests.

CRL is contemplating a digitization project dealing with early modern
architecture and decorative arts in the United States and United
Kingdom. We will probably begin by digitizing four or five journal
titles. The following list includes titles that we are
considering. It would be quite useful to have the views of scholars
and academic researchers on the relative value of these titles, to help
us prioritize our digitization work.

More specifically, it would be good to have from the appropriate H-Net
communities an "off-the-cuff" sense of which five of these titles would
be the most useful in their research. We would also welcome their
suggestions of what additional titles we might consider. Those
subscribers who would like to assist us in this effort should number
the journals they select from 1 to 5 (5=highest priority, 1=lowest) and
feel free to offer any comments or suggestions about the utility and
significance of the item(s). Replies can be sent at the address in the
signature below.

Thank you for your time and consideration,
