ECLA European College of Liberal Arts in Berlin invites applications for
one-year post-doctoral fellowships beginning September 2006. Ph.D or
equivalent is preferred. Superior ABD candidates may be considered. All
candidates should be prepared to engage seriously with philosophy and
literature. Special consideration will be given to candidates whose area
of specialization or concentration includes pre-19th century history or
art history. Language of instruction is English. Teaching fellows will
contribute to our year-long co-taught core course and may teach one more
specialized seminar during the academic year. The Fellows are expected to
pursue research interests and to participate in the intellectual and
social life of the college. The position requires a strong commitment to
teaching, and a creative approach to interdisciplinarity.
Located in the Pankow section of Berlin, ECLA (www.ecla.de) was recently
founded as an academically distinguished, international, residential
college dedicated to liberal education. Faculty and students share the
benefits of a small, close-knit intellectual community.
Compensation: 26,000 Euro + accommodation
