Applications are invited for a two-year lectureship in History of Art. We
shall consider seriously highly qualified candidates specialised in any aspect
of the architecture and/or art of the period 1500-1800. Preference may be
given to applicants working on European topics, but those with other interests
are also encouraged to apply.

Art History is one of the University's highest ranking research units (rated 5
RAE in 2001). A highly- motivated and enthusiastic lecturer, you will replace
Professor Sam Smiles who is taking up a three- year Leverhulme Major Research
Fellowship. This three-year post will commence in September 2005 and is based
in the School of Art & Performance within the Faculty of Arts.

You will contribute to our undergraduate teaching programmes and to the Art
History research community. With a PhD (or near completion), you'll bring
teaching experience in the field and a developing publications profile. All
research specialisms will be considered; teaching expertise in the modern
period is desirable.

The Faculty of Continuing Education is a major provider of lifelong learning
