CALL FOR PAPERS
2nd Annual Art History Graduate Student Symposium
York University, Toronto, Canada
March 19, 2004

"Intersections: Approaches to Visual Culture"

Criticisms of disciplinary rigidity have been numerous throughout the
decade, with arguments for and against delineating or deconstructing
boundaries. At the same time, insightful and innovative philosophy and
thinking has resulted from interdisciplinary discussions. For the second
annual art history graduate student symposium, we are seeking papers that
address the "in-between": that liminal space that is neither distinctly
one nor the other discipline. These are papers that are concerned with
unconventional modes of thinking, that incorporate different disciplines,
and/or those that push the boundaries.

Abstracts should be submitted via e-mail as a Word attachment, in rich-
text format or as text to yorkarthisthotmail.com and be no longer than
200 words in length. Please also include your CV. Alternative formats
are also acceptable, such as submissions of artworks, website links,
and/or proposals for performances. For non-electronic submissions, please
send your entry with SASE to:
