Das Deutsche Forum für Kunstgeschichte bietet in Kooperation mit der Technischen Universität Darmstadt ein dreimonatiges Stipendium für ein Forschungsvorhaben im Kontext der Pariser Weltausstellungen an, das aufgrund seiner Quellen- bzw. Literaturlage einen Aufenthalt in Frankreich erfordert. Das Stipendium ist im Rahmen eines Forschungsprojektes zum Thema „‚Gesamtkunstwerk‘ Weltausstellung“ verortet. Ausgehend von den Pariser Weltausstellungen, wird gefragt, inwiefern Kunst und Mode auf den Weltausstellungen dazu beigetragen haben, Paris als Mode- und Kunststadt zu festigen, und welche Rolle technische Neuerungen im Bereich der Reproduktionen, wie die Fotografie, Drucktechniken, Konfektionswaren etc., gespielt haben. Insbesondere die kolonialen Verflechtungen, die in der Mode deutlich werden, etwa über die Stoffe, wie Baumwolle oder Seide, oder über die Abgrenzung von Mode und Tracht, sollen in den Blick genommen werden. Ein Schwerpunkt, der verschiedene Bereiche von Kunst, Kunstgewerbe, Mode und Technik verbindet, wäre wünschenswert. Die Förderung richtet sich an Doktorand/-innen und Postdoktorand/-innen. Der/die Stipendiat/in kann sich an der Vorbereitung und Durchführung eines Studientages beteiligen, der im März 2020 abgehalten wird.
Der Umfang der Förderung beträgt in der Regel 1.700 Euro pro Monat. Diese beinhaltet auch fachliche und strukturelle Beratung sowie die Nutzung der Ressourcen des Instituts. Das Forschungsstipendium ist für den Zeitraum vom 1. Januar – 31. März 2020 geplant. Es besteht Präsenzpflicht in Paris. Ihr Antrag mit einem Anschreiben, einer Projektbeschreibung und Quellenlage (ca. 3 Seiten, zzgl. eines detaillierten Arbeits-/Zeitplans) sowie einem CV ist bis 1. In cooperation with Technische Universität Darmstadt, the Deutsche Forum für Kunstgeschichte in Paris is offering a three-month scholarship for a research project related to the Paris world fairs that requires a stay in France due to the source materials and accessible secondary literature. The scholarship is positioned within the framework of a research project on the following topic: “’Gesamtkunstwerk’ World Fairs”. Taking its starting point from the Paris world fairs, the main concerns of inquiry should be: how did the art and fashion at the world fairs contribute to establishing and consolidating Paris’s position as a fashion and art metropolis? And which role did technological innovations play in the area of reproductions, for instance in photography, print, readymade clothing, etc.? Within this context, the complex interrelationships characteristic of colonialism are to be considered, in particular how they emerge in fashion, for example through fabrics (cotton or silk) or through the distinction between fashion and traditional clothing. A focus linking the different areas of art, the applied arts and crafts, fashion and technology is desirable. The scholarship is for doctoral candidates and post-graduates alike. The beneficiary can participate in the preparation and holding of a study day scheduled for March 2020.
Generally, the scholarship amounts to 1 700 Euro per month. It also provides expert scholarly guidance and organisational advice as well as the use of the Institute’s resources. The research scholarship is scheduled to run from 1 January through to 31 March 2020. Presence in Paris is compulsory. Bourse de recherche

En coopération avec la Technische Universität Darmstadt, le Centre allemand d’histoire de l’art (DFK Paris) propose une bourse d’une durée de trois mois pour un projet de recherche en lien avec les expositions universelles parisiennes nécessitant un séjour en France de par la localisation des sources et/ou des ressources bibliographiques. Cette bourse s’inscrit dans le cadre d’un projet de recherche sur le thème de L’exposition universelle, « œuvre d’art totale ». Il s’agit de s’interroger sur la façon dont l’art et la mode présentés dans le contexte des expositions universelles parisiennes ont contribué à asseoir le rôle phare de la capitale française dans ces deux domaines ; et d’explorer le rôle des innovations techniques en matière de reproduction comme la photographie, les procédés d’impression, les articles de confection, etc., dans ce processus. Les intrications avec le monde colonial, qui se manifestent dans la mode notamment à travers les tissus comme le coton ou la soie, ou encore à travers la distinction entre mode et vêtements traditionnels, retiendront particulièrement l’attention. Les axes de recherche intégrant différents domaines de l’art, des arts décoratifs, de la mode et des évolutions techniques sont particulièrement bienvenus. Cette bourse s’adresse à des doctorants et postdoctorants. Les bénéficiaires pourront participer à la préparation et à la mise en œuvre d’une journée d’étude qui se tiendra au mois de mars 2020.
Le montant de l’aide s’élève en règle générale à 1 700 € par mois, et s’accompagne d’un soutien scientifique et structurel ainsi que d’un accès aux ressources de l’institut. La bourse de recherche est prévue pour la période du 1er janvier au 31 mars 2020 et entraîne une obligation de résidence à Paris. Les candidatures devront comprendre une lettre décrivant le projet et un panorama des sources (environ 3 pages auxquelles s’ajoute un planning de travail), ainsi qu’un CV, et peuvent être soumises jusqu’au 1er octobre 2019 dans un seul fichier pdf.
