Historic Collections and Contemporary Art from Asia and the Middle East
June 17, 2011 1–5 p.m.
This event takes the form of a workshop dedicated to exploring intersections between historic museums and contemporary art. The invited artists and curators will offer perspectives on the opportunities and challenges for museums in developing exhibition programs focused on contemporary art from Asia and the Middle East. The second half of the workshop will be a roundtable discussion among the speakers and invited guests from academic and cultural institutions in the Mid-Atlantic region. The intention is to address ways museum curators and artists can engage audiences in the discourses of past and present.
