2016 Mid-America College Art Association Conference

The MACAA 2016 conference will be held at the University of Cincinnati's
College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning (DAAP), October 26-28th.

Call for Session Proposals

MACAA 2016:STUDIO SHIFT DEADLINE 12.16.2015*

Art and design are constantly evolving, and over the past twenty years
there has been escalating interest in socially engaged art and design. The
creative practitioner releases some control to the audience in this
post-studio environment. But can the artist truly function without a
private space for reflection and production? Can the designer or scholar
think and write cogently on a laptop in public? This conference will
address the past, present and future of creative research space for
artists, designers, historians, curators and critics. Other presentation
topics will also be considered.

Art and Design also have intertwined histories, including the current
trends toward design-orientated fabrication, modeling and aesthetic choices
in contemporary art. We seek session proposals that capture the spirit of
this healthy conversation between art and design. We also seek proposals
that explore the future trajectories of art and design. Abstracts, maximum
of 250 words, should be attached to the proposal form.

+ EMAIL SUBMISSIONS TO: MACAA16ucmail.uc.edu

For more information, see http://www.macaart.org/conference.html . Panel
proposals may be for fully formed panels or for panels that, upon
acceptance, will involve a separate call for papers.
