The summer course ‘Between Marble and Concrete. Heritage and Urbanism in Athens, 19th to 21st Centuries’ that will be held in the Spring/ Summer 2011.
The course is an initiative of CLUE –the Research Institute for the Heritage and History of the Cultural Landscape and Urban Environment of VU University– Amsterdam in collaboration with the Netherlands Institute in Athens (NIA). It is organized annually and is open for credit to students from the Netherlands and abroad, up to a number of 20 postgraduate students. Participants follow seminars (either in Amsterdam or online) and do literature research in preparation of a ten-day excursion to Athens in June.

For this course we seek master’s and PhD students of universities in the Netherlands and abroad, with a background in heritage studies, archaeology, art history, architecture, architectural history, historical geography, urban planning, and landscape architecture and urban design.
